[Shirakawa-go Gassho-mura] Shirakawa-go is a collection of mountain villages famous for their traditional gasho-style architecture, and was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1995. The representative Ogi-machi in the village gathered together, and the appearance of life in symbiosis with the natural environment remains. It is named because of the shape of the roof that makes a private house by putting hands together. The steep thatched roof effectively prevents heavy snowfall, demonstrating the architectural wisdom that the predecessors developed in response to the harsh climate. Some private houses will be opened to the outside, allowing tourists to enter and tour and get to know the structure of traditional houses and rural life in the past.
[Hida] is a mountainous nature, traditional town, with artisan culture and famous historical district, and the central city is Hida Takayama. Due to its location in the mountainous area inland, Hida has long had a unique lifestyle and cultural figure.
[Takayama Raiya] Takayama Raiya is the only surviving Edo Daikansho (local government office) architecture in Japan, and has an extremely high history and cultural value. The Takayama Raiya was built in the 17th century and was in charge of politics, judiciary and financial management as an administrative center with the shogunate directly controlling the Hida district. The interior of the architecture fully holds up the secretariat, the interrogation room, the space of the meeting and the office of the official, while the truth reveals the appearance of the operation of the local administration at the time.
